Cathryn Girard

With a strong background in Quality Management, Cathryn has provided  training and consulting services to automotive manufacturers and their  suppliers for over 20 years. Recently, she expanded her skills to  include alternative energy, medical device and semiconductor  organizations. Cathryn has consulted and provided technical training in  the areas of APQP, FMEA, APQP, Problem Solving, ISO 9001:2008, ISO/TS  16949:2009, Internal Auditing, PPAP, and Quality System Implementation.

Cathryn is a Ford Motor Company FMEA and Plexus trainer/coach as well as a  certified ISO 9001:2008 RABQSA QMS Certified Lead Auditor (Cert. No.  108673) and an IATF  16949 lead auditor. She has managed successful  supplier turnaround projects under the Ford, Visteon, and Chrysler 3rd  Party Supplier Development programs, consulted extensively with Ford  Motor Company, facilitating the APQP process and has consulted with  suppliers for successful PPAP submission and launch programs. Cathryn  was contracted by Chrysler to facilitate Process and System Design FMEA  development and has successfully directed the implementation of a QMS  conforming to ISO/TS 16949:2009 and customer requirements several  automotive components suppliers.

Her career includes tenures with Ford Motor Company and Eaton Corporation  as an Industrial Engineer. She has experience as a Corporate Quality  Manager for a supplier organization that supplies components parts to  automotive OEMs, defense contractors, and commercial manufacturers. She  is currently President of Engineered Work Systems. Cathryn is a lead QMS 3rd Party Auditor for ISO 9001:2008 and has extensive experience  auditing service and manufacturing sectors.

Cathryn is a senior member of ASQ and has participated with the Automotive  Division of ASQ as Vice Chair, Executive Secretary, Treasurer and  Conference Chair. She is a graduate of The University of Michigan.

Cathryn has presented papers, at ASQ conferences including Tri-State ASQ  presenting on Advanced Product Quality Planning and New Product  Development and St. Louis ASQ presenting on Core Tools Methods. She has  published articles; Create Alignment and Synergy for Core Tools, Quality Magazine, and ISO/TS 16949 Implementation, Where to Start Quality Digest Magazine. Cathryn has also developed an eLearning curriculum that includes;  PFMEA, DFMEA and Problem Solving. Cathryn was contracted by AIAG to  develop courses addressing the Automotive Process Approach, for both  implementation and assessment.
